It is said that the mirror of a person’s soul is seen in the environment in which they live. Therefore, if you want to impress your guests, arranging the yard in front of the house should be placed on the priority list.
The yard and the garden are two places that, if you arrange them properly and you like the result, you will have a place of refuge, an oasis of peace where you can enjoy your favorite activities.
You will have that space that represents the corner of nature where you can enjoy the scent of flowers, the shade of trees, the cool air, and the freshness of summer mornings. In the yard you can create an area where you can read or drink your coffee, but also receive the people you love.
The garden in front of the house is very important because it is the most visible part of the yard. The design of this garden is often special and must be planned, as any changes can be expensive. This garden must be both practical, with wide and well-designed paths, but also beautiful.

Are we landscaping the yard or garden?
We call the yard the space, fenced or not, around a building, of a household, which belongs to this building. The garden is a planted area of land and arranged with alleys, benches, and others, which serves as a place of recreation or has a decorative role. We clarified to remind ourselves that part of the yard is the garden.
Regardless of the size of the yard or house, regardless of the layout of the alleys and other areas in the yard, we will have the layout of the yard in front of the hous,e which is generally a flower garden, with a clear purpose of presentation and image, while the yard behind the house is a more functional garden.
The backyard is often called the inner courtyard. In the area behind the house, depending on the available space, we will arrange a terrace for relaxation, a barbecue for gatherings with family and friends, a playground for children, with or without a pool, a roundhouse for growing some vegetables as a hobby, a gazebo, a shed with a garage and, of course, a small workshop.
Landscaping the front yard refers to the landscaping of the alley or alleys leading from the entrance gate to the house and the flowerbeds found in the space between the street and the house.

Elements for arranging the yard in front of the house
Whether you live in the city or in a cottage in a seaside resort or at the foot of the mountains, whether your home is close to the street or not, designing the yard in front of your house can be a challenge, as there are elements that must be taken into account to give your home a special charm:
1. The existence of the fence depending on the general design of the street. Even if we do not want a common house, we must maintain an appearance that does not stand out glaringly, in other words, in a neighborhood of houses with pastel shades, ours cannot be red or lilac. If there are no fences on the street or only hedges, we cannot make an exception, not even in terms of their height. The fence does not have to be like the neighbors’ but it should be in the same spirit, regardless of the material used or design. In another context, we must remember that the arrangement of the yard in front of the house makes the facade visible and then the fence should not hide the house and the garden from view.
2. Placement of an alley from the gate to the entrance door of the house . This is a pedestrian access alley, which can be made of cubic stone or tiles, the same or different shapes, which must be comfortable, without the possibility of getting dirty on your shoes during the rainy season. A pearl pebble path can be a very good idea. A great effect path is one made of pieces of stone with a space in between where a lawn is planted. If steps are needed, they will be given a gentle and comfortable slope. The path will divide the yard and may or may not have a stone gutter. It can also be accentuated by a hedge, flower beds or a line of shrubs.

3. Arrangement of flower pots and / or water basins. Because there is still nothing planted, you can decide whether to put stone planters, if you will have one or two fountain-like basins in the garden. It is time to install sprinklers to irrigate the garden, if necessary. If not, bring the water supply system to a very convenient place.
4. The alley must be well lit. Lighting on poles can be much too expensive and not very effective, especially if the alley is short. A system of low lamps, up to 80 cm, can be a good choice, regardless of the design of the lamp chosen. The light is preferably natural or warm, but not very strong, illuminating very well only at ground level.
5. Installation of accent lighting for the house and garden. It is an issue that must be addressed, but which does not necessarily mean an isolated and buried installation. At the current technological level, there are stand-alone lamps and reflectors, with solar batteries and programmed timing.

6. A yard without a lawn can leave the impression of being unkempt . You definitely need to make a sketch on which to mark each plant and the place where it is to be planted. After you have decided on the places dedicated to trees, shrubs and flower beds, you can sow the lawn. It is important to choose lawn seeds suitable for the soil and the light, humidity and temperature conditions, there are lawn seed mixtures for areas exposed to the sun, as well as for shaded areas.
7. Small trees and shrubs will be planted. They will break the monotony and create focal points in the landscape in front of the house. A tree can be planted on each side of the driveway. Tall bushes are another example of practical ideas for arranging the yard in front of the house.
8. Plants in large pots are a practical idea for arranging . With a short distance between the house and the street, with a landscape completed by shrubs and lawn, plants in large pots are another practical landscaping alternative. Usually, plants with an extended maintenance cycle are used.
